Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

Overview

Privileged is a desktop application that helps solo and small-practice attorneys review and analyze contracts using AI that runs entirely on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and — most importantly — what we deliberately do not collect.

The core commitment: your documents never leave your device

Privileged is built so that contract review happens entirely on-device. When you use the App to analyze a document:

  • The document is never uploaded to our servers or to any third-party server.
  • No document content, client names, case details, or contract text is transmitted over the internet at any point during analysis.
  • The AI models that power document review run locally on your computer, not in the cloud.

This is an architectural fact about how the App works, not a policy we could change without changing the product. We designed it this way specifically because attorneys have confidentiality and privilege obligations that cloud-based AI tools cannot adequately address.

Information we do collect

While document content stays local, a small amount of information is necessarily collected to operate the business side of the App.

Account and billing information

When you start a free trial or subscribe, we (through our payment processor, Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions) collect:

  • Your email address
  • Payment information (processed and stored entirely by Dodo Payments — we never see or store your card details)
  • License key activation status (which device(s) your license is active on, for the purpose of enforcing activation limits)

Basic application usage data

To keep the App running reliably, we may collect limited, non-content technical data such as:

  • App version and operating system version
  • Crash reports and error logs (which do not contain document content)
  • License validation check-ins (confirming your subscription is active — this contains no document data)

We do not collect, and have no access to, the contents of any document you open or analyze in the App.

Website data

Our website may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic (e.g., page views). We do not use this data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

How we use this information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • Process your subscription and deliver your license key
  • Enforce license activation limits (preventing unauthorized sharing of a single license)
  • Provide customer support if you contact us
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues (via crash reports)
  • Understand basic product usage to improve the App

What we never do

  • We never access, view, or transmit the content of documents you analyze in the App.
  • We never sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We never use your data to train AI models.
  • We never share your information with advertisers.

Third parties

The only third party with access to any of your information is Dodo Payments, our payment processor and Merchant of Record, which handles checkout, billing, and license key delivery. Dodo Payments has its own privacy policy governing how it handles payment data, available at their website. We do not share document content with Dodo Payments or any other party — they only ever see billing-related information (email, payment method, subscription status).

Data retention

We retain account and billing information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Crash reports and technical logs are retained only as long as needed to diagnose issues and are then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you (such as your email and billing information). To exercise these rights, contact us at support.privilegedai@gmail.com.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.

Children's privacy

Privileged is a professional tool intended for licensed attorneys and legal professionals. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify active subscribers by email.
