Privileged is a desktop application that helps solo and small-practice attorneys review and analyze contracts using AI that runs entirely on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and — most importantly — what we deliberately do not collect.
Privileged is built so that contract review happens entirely on-device. When you use the App to analyze a document:
This is an architectural fact about how the App works, not a policy we could change without changing the product. We designed it this way specifically because attorneys have confidentiality and privilege obligations that cloud-based AI tools cannot adequately address.
While document content stays local, a small amount of information is necessarily collected to operate the business side of the App.
Account and billing information
When you start a free trial or subscribe, we (through our payment processor, Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions) collect:
Basic application usage data
To keep the App running reliably, we may collect limited, non-content technical data such as:
We do not collect, and have no access to, the contents of any document you open or analyze in the App.
Website data
Our website may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic (e.g., page views). We do not use this data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
We use the limited information described above only to:
The only third party with access to any of your information is Dodo Payments, our payment processor and Merchant of Record, which handles checkout, billing, and license key delivery. Dodo Payments has its own privacy policy governing how it handles payment data, available at their website. We do not share document content with Dodo Payments or any other party — they only ever see billing-related information (email, payment method, subscription status).
We retain account and billing information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Crash reports and technical logs are retained only as long as needed to diagnose issues and are then deleted.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you (such as your email and billing information). To exercise these rights, contact us at support.privilegedai@gmail.com.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.
Privileged is a professional tool intended for licensed attorneys and legal professionals. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify active subscribers by email.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact us at support.privilegedai@gmail.com.
